Quick Weave Hairstyles We Do in the Studio

A quick weave is the fastest way to a new hairstyle without braids, thread or a wig. The tracks are glued to a protective cap over your own hair, which means almost any style a sew in can do, a quick weave can do in about half the chair time, and it comes out in one piece four to six weeks later.
The quick weave hairstyles I do most are a middle part or side part with a closure, an invisible part with a leave out, blunt and curly bobs, flip over curls, half up half down, a sleek ponytail, and braids with a quick weave such as Fulani or stitch braids at the front. The style decides the hair you bring and how I lay the tracks, so pick the look first. Every one of them books as the quick weave at my Springfield Gardens studio.
The quick weave styles I do most, and what each needs
Here is the shortlist, with the hair to bring and how long each tends to hold. The wear time is the same 4 to 6 weeks for all of them; what changes is how much daily styling the look needs to stay sharp.
| Style | Hair to bring | Daily upkeep | Wear |
|---|---|---|---|
| Middle part with closure | 2 to 3 bundles plus a 4x4 or 5x5 closure | Low | 4 to 6 weeks |
| Side part with closure | 2 to 3 bundles plus a 5x5 or 6x6 closure | Low | 4 to 6 weeks |
| Invisible part with leave out | 2 to 3 bundles, no closure | Medium, leave out needs pressing | 4 to 5 weeks |
| Blunt bob | 2 bundles, 10 to 14 inches, plus closure | Low | 4 to 6 weeks |
| Curly bob | 2 bundles curly, plus closure | Medium, refresh curls | 4 to 6 weeks |
| Flip over curls | 2 to 3 bundles curly or wavy, no closure | Medium | 4 to 5 weeks |
| Half up half down | 3 bundles plus closure or frontal | Medium | 4 to 5 weeks |
| Sleek ponytail | 2 bundles plus frontal, or a ponytail piece | Medium | 3 to 4 weeks |
| Braids with quick weave | 2 bundles plus braiding hair | Low | 4 to 6 weeks |
Bundle counts are for a medium density look at shoulder to mid back length. Longer or fuller styles take an extra bundle. If you are not sure what to buy, message me the look and I will tell you the length and the closure size before you spend money.
Parts: middle, side and invisible
The part is the first decision, because it decides whether you need a closure and how the cap is laid. A closure gives you a part with no heat on your own hair; a leave out gives you the most natural blend but needs pressing every few days.
Middle part quick weave
The classic. A 4x4 or 5x5 closure is bonded at the crown with the part laid dead center, and the tracks are glued in curved rows beneath it so the hair falls evenly on both sides. It suits every face shape, photographs the same from either side and needs almost nothing from you day to day. It is the style I suggest for a first quick weave.
Side part quick weave
The same build with the closure part laid off center. Because the part moves across the closure, a 5x5 or 6x6 gives enough lace for a real side part; on a 4x4 the part lands at the edge of the lace. The heavy side gets an extra row of tracks so the sweep has weight, and the closure is bleached and plucked on the side you want before install day.
Invisible part with leave out
No closure. A thin section of your own hair is left out at the part and pressed to blend over the top track, so the part is your real scalp. It is the most natural looking quick weave and the only one where the hair you bring has to match your own texture when pressed. The trade is heat on the leave out every few days, which is why I keep the leave out as thin as the blend allows.
Bobs: blunt, rounded, curly and pixie
Bobs are where the quick weave shines. The cap makes the hair sit close to the head, the tracks are cut to shape after they are laid, and short hair means fewer bundles and faster styling every morning.
Blunt cut bob
Two bundles at 10 to 14 inches and a closure, cut straight across at the jaw or the collarbone after the tracks are in. The line is cut on your face, not on a mannequin, so it sits where it flatters you. Keep it pressed and wrapped at night and it stays sharp the full wear.
Rounded bob
The same build cut with the back a touch shorter than the front, so the ends curve under toward the chin. Softer than a blunt line, and it hides a little growth at the nape as the weeks go on.
Curly bob
Curly or deep wave bundles cut into a bob shape, worn with a middle or side part closure. Curls hide the track lines and the closure edge better than any straight style, so if you worry about a quick weave looking like a quick weave, this is the one. Refresh with water and curl cream every two or three days.
Pixie cut quick weave
The shortest quick weave: tracks laid close and cut into a tapered pixie with a longer top. It takes the most cutting skill and the least hair, and it is the style that gets clients stopped on the street, because nobody expects a pixie to be a weave. Expect to come in sooner for the take down, since there is no length to hide the cap edge as it lifts.
Curls and waves
Curly quick weaves forgive everything: a slight lift at the nape, a track line, a closure edge. They also need the most daily care, since curls have to be refreshed to stay defined.

Flip over curls
The flip over method lays the tracks on a cap with the hair falling forward, then flips the whole head back so the top row covers the rest and no closure is needed. With curly bundles the result is a full, bouncy, natural crown with a hidden part. It is the fastest full look on this list and a favorite for events.
Side part body wave
Body wave bundles with a 5x5 or 6x6 closure, parted to the side and swept across. Looser than curls, so the hairline shows a little more, which is why the closure is bleached and plucked before install day. It is the look most clients mean when they ask for Hollywood waves.
Long curly quick weave
Three bundles of curly hair at 20 inches or longer, with a closure. Heavy, dramatic and the best quick weave for a wedding guest or a birthday. The weight pulls on the tracks, so the nape rows get extra attention and the pineapple at night is not optional.
Crimped quick weave
Straight bundles crimped with a crimping iron before or after the install for a textured, voluminous look that was everywhere in the nineties and is back. It holds its texture for weeks with no refreshing, which makes it one of the lowest upkeep curly styles.
Updos, ponytails and half up styles
Any style that pulls the hair up needs the cap and the tracks to be laid for it, because the perimeter shows. Tell me at booking and I set the rows so nothing peeks out when the hair goes up.
Half up half down
The lower half covers the nape and the sides, so only the top of the cap has to be perfect. With a closure the top knot sits on real looking scalp; with a frontal the whole front edge can be pulled back. It is the most forgiving updo on a quick weave and the one I recommend if you want to wear your hair up some days and down others.
Sleek ponytail
A quick weave ponytail is built on a frontal or on a ponytail piece bonded at the crown, with the perimeter of the cap laid tight and slicked. It looks sharp for a few weeks and then the cap edge shows as the hair grows, so I book these for a specific event rather than for a six week wear.
Finger waves and molded updos
Short hair molded into finger waves, or a longer quick weave swept into a pinned updo, is where a quick weave beats a wig: the hair is attached close to the head, so it molds like your own. These are event styles, done the day before or the day of, and they pair well with a glam face. The Slay Me hair and makeup appointment at $300 covers both in one sitting.
Braids with a quick weave
Braiding the front and gluing tracks behind it gives you a braided style without braiding all of your hair, and it takes a fraction of the time. The braids are done on your own hair first, the cap goes over the rest, and the tracks are laid behind the braids.
Fulani braids with quick weave
Fulani braids across the front and crown, with the quick weave hair falling behind them. Beads or cuffs on the braids are optional. The braids hide the cap edge completely, so this is one of the longest lasting quick weave looks.
Stitch braids with quick weave
Four or six feed in stitch braids going back from the hairline, tracks behind. Clean, sharp and low upkeep; the braids stay neat for the full wear and the weave hair only needs brushing.
Half braided, half quick weave
Braids or bantu knots on one half of the head, quick weave on the other. More of a statement than a daily look, and a good one for a birthday or a shoot. Because the cap covers only part of the head, the join between braid and cap is laid with care so it does not show when you turn.
If you want braids with no weave at all, butterfly locs are on my Queens hair services page as a separate style.
Closures, frontals and color on a quick weave
The lace piece and the color decide how natural the finished style looks. A closure is enough for most styles; a frontal is for styles that show the whole hairline; and color is easiest when the bundles come already colored.
Quick weave with closure
A 4x4, 5x5 or 6x6 closure bonded at the crown gives you a part with no leave out and no heat on your own hair. It is the piece I suggest for anyone who presses their leave out too often or who wants the lowest upkeep.
Quick weave with frontal
A 13x4 or 13x6 frontal bonded across the front gives you the whole hairline in lace, so the hair can be pulled back, parted at the temple or worn in a half up style. It takes more customizing before install day and sits closer to a wig install in look, which is why some clients with a frontal end up choosing a wig install instead.
Blonde, highlights and color
Bring the bundles already colored, whether that is a full blonde, highlights or a rich red. Coloring hair after it is glued is hard on the bond and on the hair. If a closure needs its lace tinted or its hair matched to colored bundles, that is lace customization that has to happen before install day, not in the chair.
For comparison, the wig installs on my menu run $130 for a closure wig, $140 for a lace front, $150 for a glueless install and $140 for a reinstall, all about 2 hours except the 90 minute reinstall. A quick weave is the step before any of those for a client who wants to try the style first.
Keeping a quick weave style for the full wear
Whatever the style, the care is the same: protect the nape, keep water off the cap and refresh the hair instead of washing it. A few minutes each night is the difference between four weeks and six.
- Wrap straight styles and pineapple curls every night, tie the hairline and nape with a satin scarf, and sleep in a bonnet on a satin pillowcase.
- Keep gel and edge control on your own hair and off the cap edge.
- Refresh curls with water and a light cream on the ends every 2 to 3 days; re press straight styles on low heat.
- Clean the scalp along the part with witch hazel on a cotton pad rather than pouring water over the head.
- Come in for the take down at 4 to 6 weeks, or sooner if the nape lifts.
I cover how to sleep in a quick weave and when to take it down in more detail in my post on how long a quick weave lasts.

Questions readers ask
How many bundles do I need for a quick weave?
Two bundles for a bob, two to three for shoulder to mid back length at medium density, and three or more for long or very full styles. Add a closure or frontal if you want a part with no leave out.
Can a quick weave be cut into a bob after it is installed?
Yes, and it should be. I cut the bob on your face after the tracks are laid so the line sits where it flatters you, rather than cutting the bundles beforehand.
Which quick weave style needs the least daily work?
A middle part with a closure, a blunt bob, or braids with a quick weave. None of them needs a leave out pressed, and all of them hold with a wrap at night and a brush in the morning.
Can I wear a quick weave in a high ponytail?
Only if it was built for it, on a frontal or a ponytail piece with the cap perimeter laid tight. A standard closure quick weave shows the cap edge when the hair is pulled up, so tell me at booking if a ponytail is the plan.
